The core curriculum includes the four basic academic disciplines that provide the students essential educational needs: Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. Each subject consists of 12 PACE’s. This is a full year of curriculum.

Scope & Sequence:

• Math - In Grade 1 the student learns numbers in symbol and name from zero to ten, counting from zero to one hundred, and simple addition and subtraction. The first three PACEs of this level are completed in conjunction with the ABCs learning -to -read program. Twelve PACES compose a full years requirement of Math.
  
  
• English - The first grade English material reviews consonant and vowel sounds and introduces reading and writing of word families and sentences. As the child develops reading comprehension skills, he finds satisfaction and success in reading, writing, and spelling. There are twelve PACE’s which cover a full years requirement.
  
  
• Social Studies - Grade 1 Social Studies builds reading skills while introducing young students to the basic principles of life. Students learn to recognize and are challenged and motivated to do what is right. They also learn to be kind, to share, and to be obedient to rules and laws. This grade requires reading character-building stories and answering questions. There are twelve PACE’s which cover a full years requirement.
  
  
• Science - In Grade 1 Science the material builds reading skills as it presents the young reader with the facts of Creation as presented in the Bible. He learns about the human body as well as concepts of health care and hygiene. There are twelve PACE’s which cover a full years requirement.

BASIC-4 Answer Keys

Animal Science
This level of Animal Science is a welcome companion to the ABCs with ACE and Christi learning to read program. It incorporates pictures to illustrate the animal stories and alphabet sounds. Also included are a variety of activities to develop the small motor muscles, eye-hand coordination, and visual discrimination.

Bible Reading (for use with the ABCs program)
Bible Reading Grade 1 PACEs feature vividly colored pictures to be used in conjunction with the Bible stories. A variety of activities gives attention to development of small motor muscles, eye-hand coordination, and visual discrimination. King James Version.

Word Building
In Grade 1 Word Building activities accompany the ABCs with ACE and Christi learning-to-read program. These PACEs provide the foundational phoentic skills needed for reading and writing mastery. Your child will learn 35 letter sounds and 11 additional blends and diphthongs that are basic to all reading. There are twelve PACEs which cover a full years requirement.
