The core curriculum includes the four basic academic disciplines that provide the students essential educational needs: Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. Each subject consists of 12 PACEs. This set is a full year of curriculum.
Scope & Sequence:
- Math - In Grade 2 the student learns to add and subtract two-and three-digit numbers, relate multiplication to addition, count by twos, fives, and tens, identify odd and even numbers, he learns carrying and borrowing, counts by very large numbers, tells time, he will also learn to recognize and construct geometric shapes.
- English - In Grade 2 English your child is introduced to punctuation and parts of speech. He also studies word meanings and order, compound words, and rhyming words. The curriculum develops visual discrimination and increases reading comprehension skills.
- Social Studies - This level of material continues to build reading skills. It also builds visual discrimination and vocabulary. It teaches about our nation and some of the great political and godly leaders of the past.
- Science - This grade sets forth the days of Creation and what was created on each day. It also demonstrates how various plants and animals function in today’s world. It reveals Gods instructions to man and the consequences of mans violation of those instructions.

Animal Science
In each PACE students study a specific animal. The student learns about sheep, dogs, horses, cats, cattle, rabbits, rodents, poultry, unusual birds, spiders, snakes, toads, and frogs. Each is presented in interesting story form and, where appropriate, Scripture reference to these animals is pointed out.

In this grade students are encouraged to visualize, use their imagination, and give creative responses to questions following one-page stories. Instead of drudgery, reading suddenly becomes a true learning experience, and writing blossoms into a comfortable skill. To round out Grade 2, each PACE provides practice in handwriting and speed reading.
