The core curriculum includes the six basic academic disciplines that provide the students essential educational needs: Math, English, Social Studies, Science, Word Building, and Literature & Creative Writing. Each subject consists of 12 PACEs. This set is a full year of curriculum.

Scope & Sequence:

Math - In Grade 7 the student: 1. Reads, writes, and works with whole and mixed numbers, integers, and common fractions; 2. Learns the proper mathematical vocabulary-dividend, mulitiplicand, product, simplify, minued, quotient, numerator, and denominator; how to change fractions and decimals to percent; how to find the number when a percent is known. 3. Is introduced to business and consumer arithmetic-profit and loss, commission, discounts, bills and receipts, and invoices with discounts. 4. Discovers business methods needed to function at home-keeping cash and household accounts, budgets, insurance,and the reading of gas and electric meters. 5. Learns about banking-savings and checking accounts, deposits, interest, and loans. A full years curriculum consists of 12 PACEs.

English - Students continue to work at identifying, reviewing, and diagraming simple, compound, and complex sentence patterns. They review principal parts of regular and irregular verbs. Verb study involves perfect tenses as well as conjugation of all six tenses. Progressive verb forms, troublesome verbs, transitive and intransitive verbs are studied as well. Noun and pronoun study becomes more intense. Infinitives, participles, and gerunds are introduced. There is opportunity to develop writing and communications skills through use of sentence variety, outlining, paragraph writing, composition writing, and proofreading. A full years curriculum consists of 12 PACEs.

Literature & Creative Writing - These study guides are issued in conjunction with odd-numbered English PACEs. The study guides include comprehension questions, a test, and a composition assignment for each book in the series. A full years curriculum consists of 6 Study Guides.

Social Studies -Young teens are beginning to think about career choices, but they need guidance. In six PACEs, students are introduced to 55 professions and vacations. Students learn what skills and talents are involved in each and what preparation is needed to enter each field. Presented in an enjoyable format, this course encourages students to begin seeking Gods place for them in life.

Please Note: Social Studies contains only 6 Paces or one half year of curriculum. One half year of State History should be taught in addition to the Paces. We suggest Switched-On Schoolhouse for State History.

Science - These life science PACEs introduced and prepare students for more advanced biology. The student learns about the habitats and characteristics of plants and animals along with ecology and Gods balance in nature. The interrelationships between organisms are discussed. The attributes essential to life are seen in relationship to the Bible and biblical Creation. A full years curriculum consists of 12 PACEs.

Word Building -Your student will learn 65 spelling words in each PACE as he learns to use the dictionary as a study tool. Among these words are homonyns, Greek root words, heteronyms, and words with prefixes and suffixes. Wise sayings that illustrate spelling rules are used throughout each PACE. Students learn syllable division rules as well as how to recognize accented and stressed syllables. A full years curriculum consists of 12 PACEs.
