Handwriting 1 uses PreCursive handwriting to teach age-appropriate writing skills which lay a solid foundation for a lifetime of good penmanship. Proper letter formation is reinforced using Scripture, poetry, words, phrases, and sentences with simple writing instructions for first graders. Consistency in slant and spacing are encouraged.

Heritage Studies 1 follows the events in the New World from pre-1000 to 1682. Your child will learn about vikings, Columbus, Plymouth Plantation, trading, Native Americans, and early homes and schools.

Math 1 encourages the use of manipulatives to develop important concepts of addition, subtraction, geometry, money, and measurement.Using a variety of hands-on activities, first graders learn problem-solving skills, including writing equations, composing word problems, and reading graphs.

Phonics and English 1 uses exciting theme lessons to combine phonics, reading, listening, comprehension, creative writing, and grammar.Lessons are designed to produce readers who can get meaning from print and writers who can communicate effectively for the Lord. The six units cover short and long vowels, single consonants, consonant blends and digraphs, rinfluenced vowels, special vowel sounds, silent consonants, suffixes, and syllable division.

Reading 1 introduces young readers to a variety of colorfully illustrated Bible stories, fiction, poems, plays, and articles. Reading selections are developed to incorporate phonics, English skills, service words, and word families. New vocabulary words for each story are introduced in sample sentences to provide context clues. Discussion questions and teaching strategies give opportunities to develop critical thinking and comprehension.

Science 1 presents God as the Creator of all things and starts first graders on the path of scientific inquiry with an introduction to the senses, heat, sound, animals, and heavenly bodies.

Spelling 1 focuses on application through studying generalizations (word families) and using spelling as a tool for communication. Enjoyable guided activities help students learn word structure and dictionary skills.
