Learn the right way to write with My Hold Right Pencil.

My Hold Right Pencil allows a child to develop a comfortable, effective pencil grip that will stay with them for life.

Instructional kit includes: finger stickers, mini poster, sharpener, and 3(qty) three-sided, tri-color pencils.

Instructional Poem

My Hold Right Pencil - Red, Yellow, Green. This is what the colors mean...Red is where I place my thumb (two more fingers still to come). The middle one goes on Green. Pointer on the Yellow in-between.

The Purpose of My Hold Right Pencil

Children should learn to grip a pencil properly. A proper pencil grip is the foundation upon which children learn to hold utensils, pens and tools throughout their lives. An imporper grip can result in children having difficulty with the correct formation of letters and result in hand fatigue while writing.

How Do My Hold Right Pencils work?

The pencils have three sides: Red, Yellow, and Green. Each color is designated for one of three fingers used in a proper grip. Red is for the thumb, Green for the middle finger and Yellow for the index finger.

How Do You Teach a Child This System?

Place the adhesive, non-toxic stickers on the coordinating fingers: Red on thumb, Green on middle finger and Yellow on Index finger. Give a child a My Hold Right pencil. Read the Instructional poem aloud as they place their fingers on the pencil as the poem instructs. By matching the color of their fingernail with the color on the pencil, they are forming a proper grip.

What about Left Handed Children?

Each My Hold Right Pencil has an "L" on one end and an "R" on the other end. When sharpening the pencil for right-handed children, place the end with the "L" in the sharpener and for left-handed children, place the end with the "R" in the sharpener. The letter that remains visible on the unsharpened end indicates that the pencil is for the right= of left-handed writers.
