Switched On Schoolhouse now has a Setup Wizard that will take you step-by-step through the process of adding your school term, calendar, curriculum, and students. It will also help you assign subjects and practice lessons for your students.

Multimedia and Learning Activities
Exciting new multimedia and learning activities have been added to Switched On Schoolhouse to help students grasp difficult concepts and give them additional practice. Students will build a space ship and visit exciting new worlds as they correctly answer clues in “Farmer Frank”. “All Right” gives students a challenging but fun way of recalling important facts discussed in the lesson, and the comic strip help students grasp difficult concepts through a colorful, fun presentation.

Revised Content
The Switched On Schoolhouse curriculum team has been working diligently to increase the amount of instruction within math lessons. That increase in instruction includes new media, more problem examples, new practice activities, and text changes. These changes will help maximize instruction for the students and allow them to focus on mastering lesson concepts.

Practice Lesson
If this is your first time using Switched On Schoolhouse, this feature was built for you! We have added a practice lesson that shows what the program looks like and how it works. The practice lesson will walk students through a Switched On Schoolhouse lesson and explain the different features and activities that you will find. You'll learn how to take quizzes and tests and be introduced to the different problem types included in the lessons. Both new and experienced user will benefit from this new Switched On Schoolhouse feature!

Custom Projects
You have asked to create your own unique projects in Switched On Schoolhouse and now you can! The new Custom Project tool will allow you to create and add your own project instructions and assignments to any subject of Switched On Schoolhouse. Custom Projects can also stand-alone without association to any particular subject.

Use the Switched On Schoolhouse Custom Project tool to:
- Develop a lesson based on your student's area of interest.
- Create an extra practice opportunity.
- Build an extension lesson based on information presented in a lesson.
- Design a lesson that ties an away-from-the-computer event to a Switched On Schoolhouse.

Optional Voice Automated Lesson Text
With the new “Text-to-Speech” feature, students will be able to highlight the passages they want to hear and Switched On Schoolhouse will read to them! Use this feature for students who struggle with reading long passages, are not yet fluent readers, or to focus and review specific passages within Switched On Schoolhouse. This feature is also great for auditory learners.

Take the guessing out of schoolwork with new assignment screens. Students screens show daily assignments, curriculum overview, due dates, subject reviews, and grades. Parents can edit, add, remove, or reorder assignments and lessons, and change assignment due dates. Parents can also easily keep track of students assignments and scores, quickly view assignments that need grading, and preview assignments in each subject.

Built-In Calendar
Never be caught off guard by holidays, events, or fieldtrips with an improved calendar. The improved school calendar features allow parents to assign/unassign school days, exclude date ranges, and add or remove events such as field trips or holidays. College Planner
Designed as a one-semester course to guide students in college planning, selection and application. Plus, they earn high school credit while doing it! Designed for the home school student, but will aid any Christian student with college decisions.

Consumer Math
A supplementary math course which explores mathematical applications for daily use. Topics include family finances, occupations, business, and transportation. Appropriate for high school students who have completed Algebra I and Geometry.

State History
For each of the 50 states, topics include state government and leaders, a historical time line, state growth and population, natural resources, economics and business, tourism and cultural distinctions, and Christian heritage and influence. Instead of rote memorization of facts, students use critical thinking and research skills as they prepare essays. This makes State History an excellent program for enhancing writing skills, applying math skills and learning about business and resources. Appropriate for grades 7-12.

Health Quest
An interactive program designed as a one-semester elective. Vocabulary is broadened through audio links and interactive drill (Vocabulocity). Techniques for proper exercise are demonstrated through step-by-step slide shows and videos. This course is designed to teach the importance of personal hygiene, fitness methods, as well as personal and ecological stewardship. Grades 4-7

Health
This one-semester high school elective carefully considers the Christian view of health. The practice of good health starts with knowledge of the physical systems of the body. When the function of the body is understood, a person recognizes the importance of good nutrition, healthy exercise, and personal hygiene. Tending and caring for your health includes more than practicing good eating habits and getting regular exercise. Your overall health is affected by your spiritual, emotional, social, and environmental well-being. A responsible attitude toward living makes one avoid substances that destroy the body. Grades 8-12

Elementary French
Learning is an adventure for students with Elementary French. Students will meet Derek and Pierre on a jungle island and become part of their adventure. Students learn French by hearing conversations, speaking and writing. This program also includes language resources, memory aids, songs, fun games, puzzles, exercises, and cultural insights. The CD-ROMs include audio recordings by French speakers. No extra materials are required. Grades K-6

Secondary French
This course introduces reading, writing and listening. The learner becomes a secret agent with a special mission. To succeed in this wonderful adventure, students must learn Friench by speaking and writing about different situations and contexts. Elementary Spanish

The program also includes numerous language resources such as a Spanish-English dictionary, animated exercises, and educational games. The CD-ROMs include audio recordings by Spanish speakers. No extra materials are required. Grades 7-12

Spanish I and Spanish II
Designed to be the equivalent of one semester each of college-level Spanish (SPA-101 and SPA-102). The curriculum is designed to help the 13 to 18-year old student reach the same level of proficiency in two years of study that a college student should attain after 2 semesters of Spanish Study. Spanish I sends you on a trip to Mexico, while Spanish II ventures to Ecuador. Students will have the opportunity to hear a variety of Spanish speakers using various vocabulary and verb tenses. After completing the Spanish I course, students will be able to ask and answer basic questions, and initiate and respond to simple statements. After completing the Spanish II course, students will be able to read, write, and listen to more complex structures.

The Story of the Constitution
A one-semester course that tells briefly of Americas origins and what steps led to the formation of the U.S. Constitution. Having explained how and why the national government came about, the course also tells what principles the Constitution stands for and how it applies to everyday life. The course is filled with a variety of helpful comprehension exercises for students. This course is ideal for anyone, young or old, who wishes to better understand the Constitution. Appropriate for grades 7-12.
