Switched On Schoolhouse - Placement Tests
Ensure Proper Placement
As with any of our curriculums, we highly recommend giving your child a diagnostic placement test to ensure proper placement within the curriculum.
Because of the different teaching approaches used by the various publishers, standards may vary from one curriculum to another. Therefore, what may be considered 8th grade material by one publisher, may qualify as 7th grade material for another.
We encourage you to use the grade levels listed by the publishers as a reference but not as the actual grade your student is in. It is entirely possible for an 8th grader to be doing 6th or 7th grade level work in one curriculum and 9th grade level work from another publisher at the same time.
The most important thing in placing your student in a new curriculum is that they are challenged by the material but not overwhelmed or frustrated. Your student should not be concerned or discouraged if he/she place in a grade level below their physical/age grade level.
Switched-On Schoolhouse Diagnostic Placement Tests
There are two options for testing with Switched-On.
We recommend taking the free placement test offered by AOP. The free test only tests for Math and Language but from the results you should be able to place your student in the appropriate grade level.
You can access the FREE placement test by clicking here. A new window will pop up and you will be taken to AOP’s website.
The second option is that you can purchase a complete diagnostic kit which tests for placement in all 5 subjects. Click here to purchase the complete Switched-On diagnostic test on CD.
